Packing Tape
A starting point for carton sealing tape for shipping boxes. Compare the adhesive system and roll dimensions against your board, dispenser and packing speed rather than buying on color alone.
Select tape for carton closure, paper-based packing and bundled shipments by matching the box surface, packing method and conditions along the shipping route.

Select tape for packaging and shipping using the packed load and closure process. Roll color and apparent thickness cannot tell you whether a carton will stay closed through handling, storage and transit. Compare samples on representative boxes with the equipment that will apply the tape.
Maiwenluo offers industrial tapes and helps you discuss product specifications and application requirements. Packing tape, kraft paper tape and fiberglass filament tape address different tasks. The categories below help define a shortlist; the adhesive, backing and roll format must still be specified and checked with samples on your actual packaging.
For manual or machine carton sealing, assess the board finish, flap alignment and contents before comparing tapes. Recycled, coated or dusty corrugated surfaces can behave differently. Test the complete closure on a filled box, including corners and flap edges, rather than judging adhesion from a short strip on an empty carton.
Kraft paper tape may suit buyers seeking a paper-facing closure or a writable surface. Confirm whether the proposed construction is pressure-sensitive or water-activated: the preparation and dispensing process are different. Do not infer recyclability, tamper evidence or moisture resistance from the paper appearance alone.
Fiberglass filament tape is a candidate for keeping suitable groups of parts together or reinforcing a packaging arrangement. Review edges, contact finishes and the direction of pull. Bundling tape is not automatically a replacement for engineered strapping, load restraint or the protective packaging needed for transport.
Compare candidates under the conditions in which workers apply the tape and the conditions the shipment encounters later. Record the same box preparation, tape path and inspection points for every trial.
| Task | Contact materials | Candidate tape | Conditions to confirm |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carton closure | Corrugated board, printed or coated boxes | Packing tape | Adhesion to the actual board, flap stress, application temperature and dispenser fit |
| Paper-facing closure | Paperboard and kraft outer packaging | Kraft paper tape | Adhesive activation method, carton compatibility and moisture exposure |
| Bundling or reinforcement | Wrapped parts, profiles and outer packs | Fiberglass filament tape | Bundle geometry, edge protection, residue limits and handling forces |
These categories are starting points, not a performance guarantee. Maiwenluo offers industrial tapes and helps you discuss product specifications and application requirements. Confirm the exact specification and validate samples in your application before ordering.

Consider this category when a paper-facing closure is required. Specify the activation method and confirm the exact construction before changing the packing station or making environmental claims.
Consider filament reinforcement for bundling and selected pack reinforcement tasks. The finished bundle needs evaluation; a reinforced backing alone does not establish the safe transport load.
Not reliably without checking the range of boards. Surface treatments, dust, recycled content, flap tension and packing conditions can change closure behavior. Include the hardest-to-seal representative carton in sample trials and agree how lifting edges or opening flaps will be assessed after storage and handling.
Thickness alone does not determine closure performance. The adhesive, backing, tape width, sealing pattern and box design work together. Describe the filled weight and handling route, then compare the entire package. Extra tape should not be used to compensate for an unsuitable or damaged carton.
Provide the machine or tape-head requirements, including roll width, core size and allowable outside diameter. Evaluate unwind behavior, cutting and tape placement during a controlled line trial. A tape that works in a hand dispenser may need a different roll format or construction for your equipment.
Send the following details with your inquiry so that candidates and sample requirements can be discussed against the same packing task.
